These lines uttered by pioneer Black Nationalist leader Marcus Garvey is recreated in
an exciting new play Catch the Tiger, written by Melvin Ishmael Johnson and directed
by Bill White.
Catch the Tiger, tells the story of Marcus Garvey, the leader of a Black mass
movement in the 1920's, and J. Edgar Hoover's efforts to destroy Garvey and his
movement until Garvey's deportation in 1927. In 1916 Hoover was given a mission of
utmost importance: Catch The Tiger. The Tiger was the code name for Marcus
Garvey.
